We deliver to the world a community of young global leaders!!!

About us

Who are we: Kijiji Afrika is  a Leadership Development and Networking Platform for young girls (15-24 years) from rural areas in Kenya

Mission: Our mission is to develop a community of young global leaders through mentorship and coaching of adolescents and teenage girls aged 15-24 years. Agenda 2030(Global Agenda) require a movement of self-driven leaders who will take advantage on renewed political goodwill to make the world a better place. The youth is quoted in the SDG framework, AU agenda 2030 and Kenya Vision 2030 as a key population instrumental in the realization of diverse development targets-"Harnessing the youth dividend" yet the empowerment  of  young people aged below 24 is often limited to school based education. At Kijiji Afrika we deliver to the world a community of well-processed, self-driven young leaders to anchor the next phase of global development.

History: Our association was founded in 2015  by a team of five (5) young Kenyan women professionals, concerned  & inspired by the growing hopelessness and wastage of youthful population in Kenya and Africa in general particularly in the rural and remote areas where the social support system is very weak. Having grown in rural Kenya we are experienced different challenges, that in many ways threatened our ambition of scaling the heights of education, Such challenges raged from family disintegration, recurring family conflicts, violence, financial constraints, social/gender discrimination, persistent care work burden, peer pressures among others. Such challenges are common in most African settings. Adaptive and resilient capacity is necessary to overcome such ills and stay connected to own personal dreams. As young girls from diverse background we navigated through this weak social system and met at the public university in the capital after years of hardwork, perseverance and self-drive. Today we are pursuing our independent careers post university, very well aware that they are many young girls who may not make it to our level unless a proper social support structure is established to compliment the public school based learning. Through Kijiji Afrika we decided to establish the Kijiji Afrika Girls' Leadership Academy  that allow pool together our talent, experience and expertise to nurture those that are behind us and to ensure that they is a mechanism of re-investing our acquired knowledge, skills and experience in the rural areas, from village level upwards. We (Founders) have served in middle-level careers in Civil society,Private Sector and at the United Nations.
